Moily demands immediate action on drinking water supply
Bangalore, Feb 15 (PTI) A day after parts of Kolar and hisLok Sabha constituency Chikkaballapur witnessed violentprotests demanding supply of drinking water, Union Ministerfor Law M Veeerappa Moily today shot off a letter to KarnatakaGovernment urging for immediate action on peoples demand.
In letters to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, WaterResources Minister Basavaraj Bommai and others, he urged thatthe government sink borewells on priority to solve thedrinking water problem.
Kolar, Bangalore Rural and Chikkaballapur faced severedrinking water scarcity, he said and wanted the Government totake up ''Yettinahole Water Supply Scheme'' as early aspossible.
The scheme envisages supply of piped water supply fromYettinahahole river in Sakaleshpur in Hassan district toChikkaballapur, Bangalore Rural and also to Yelahanka inBangalore City, he noted.
Moily has urged Yeddyurappa to include the scheme inthe coming budget.
