Mumbai, Feb 14 (PTI) Maharashtra''s apex milk co-operativebody, Mahananda Dairy, is expected to take a decision onwhether to hike its milk prices after a meeting of its Boardscheduled for tomorrow.
It is widely expected that milk prices would be hiked inthe range of Rs 1-2.
If a hike is effected, it will come into effect fromWednesday (February 16), a source close to the developmenttold PTI here today.
It is likely that prices would be hiked in the range ofRs 1-2, the source said.
Mahananda Dairy, the milk-surplus Maharashtra''s apex milkco-operative body, will be holding a meeting of all milkco-operatives and companies tomorrow.
The State Government has increased milk procurementprices by Rs 2 per litre for cow milk and Rs 2.5 per litre forbuffalo milk and this will reflect in the selling price ofmilk, the source said.
In January this year, the Government had increased themilk procurement rates. As a result, milk prices wererevised upwards by Re 1 on January 4 and this new price cameinto effect from January 11.
Presently, milk is procured from farmers for Rs 21 and Rs14 per litre for buffalo and cow milk, respectively.
