Maha ATS to scrutinise Mutalik''s telephonic records

Mumbai, Feb 14 (PTI) The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squadtoday told a special court here that they have procured thetelephonic records of Praveen Mutalik alias Praveen VenkateshTakalki, key accused in the 2008 Malegoan blast case, and wantto scrutinise it to trace the other absconding accused.

"The ATS told the Maharashtra Control of Organised CrimeAct (MCOCA) court that they want to trace the two abscondingaccused Ramchandra Kalsangra and Sandeep Dange after goingthrough the telephonic records," Mutalik''s lawyer NaveenChomal said.

Seeking extension of Mutalik''s police custody, the ATSfurther said that they wanted to confront some witnessesbefore Mutalik.

"We sought Mutalik''s custody as there is significantprogress in the investigation," said special public prosecutorRohini Salian.

The court extended the police custody of Mutalik (32),arrested from Gokak in Karnataka on February 1, till February21.

The ATS had arrested 11 persons including Sadhvi PragyaSingh Thakur and Lt Col Shrikant Purohit for allegedlycarrying out the blasts at Malegaon in September 2008 thatkilled six people and injured several others.
