Jnanpith awardee Indira Goswami''s condition critical
Guwahati, Feb 14 (PTI) Jnanpith award winning Assameselitterateur Indira Goswami''s condition remained critical todayas she developed high fever and continued to be on ventilatorfor the third day.
"There has been no improvement in her condition. Shedeveloped high fever since last night due to septicaemia. Shecontinues to be on ventilation support," said Dr DebabrataGoswami, head of the team of doctors attending on her.
Consultations were also held with senior specialist ofAll India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Dr Ramen Deka.
Goswami (68) was brought to the hospital late onSaturday night after she complained of respiratory problemsand was immediately put on ventilation in the ICU.
A team of doctors of medicine, cardiology, ENT,critical care, neurology, nephrology and anaesthesia wasmonitoring her round the clock.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is also in closetouch with doctors attending on Goswami and has directedHealth Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah to monitor her conditionand ensure that she is provided with the best treatment.
Gogoi also wished the popular writer a speedyrecovery, an official release said.
Goswami, who has authored several novels and shortstory collection, had earlier taken initiative for a politicaldialogue to resolve the ULFA issue which had rocked the statefor nearly three decades.
