IBM to transform GCMMF''s operations through ERP implementation

Ahmedabad, Feb 15 (PTI) IBM has inked a strategicoutsourcing contract with the country''s largest milk producerGujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), whichmarkets the brand Amul, to improve its operational efficiency,an IBM official said here today.

"In first phase of the project IBM will create a SAPplatform for GCMMF, which later on will be integrated with itsdealer distribution network for improving the operationalefficiency," IBM India Vice President General Business West ofIndia region Vivek Mehta told PTI.

IBM is currently into phase-I implementation of theproject.

"The first phase is expected to be launched by March2011," he said adding the next phase is slated for launch inSeptember.

"No one ever thought that IT can contribute immensely toeven such kind of business also, which is now going to be atruly business transformation story," Mehta said.

The business transformation of the federation byenterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation is touted toresult in savings of USD 2 million to GCCMF over a 10-yearproject span.

"Yes we have signed a contract with IBM where they shallbe providing us e-linkage for our entire distribution systemright from the depot level," GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhisaid.

"The move is significant for our future expansion plans,"he said.
