Cong MP booked for making bribery remark against judge
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 15 (PTI) Kerala police todayregistered a case against Congress MP K Sudhakaran for hiscontroversial statement that he was witness to a Supreme Courtjudge being bribed years back.
The case has been registered under IPC sections 120and 200, concealing design to commit offences and using falsedeclaration as true respectively, by Museum Police on acomplaint by a local lawyers'' forum which alleged Sudhakaran''sspeech at a public meeting few days back amounted to insultingthe judiciary.
Sudhakaran''s speech at Kottarakkara in Kollam districtlast Saturday has sparked a row in political and legalcircles.
The Congress has distanced itself from Sudhakaran''sadverse remarks against judiciary, holding that the party wasagainst any attempt that would dent judiciary''s credibility.
Sudhakaran, former state minister who now representsKannur in the Lok Sabha, had made the charge without namingthe judge at the meeting organised by supporters of RBalakrishna Pillai, who was recently sentenced to one yearimprisonment by the Supreme Court in a corruption case.
