BJP meet to decide strategy for upcoming assembly polls
Kolkata, Feb 14 (PTI) Senior BJP leaders including L KAdvani and party president Nitin Gadkari will take part in acrucial meeting of party''s office bearers tomorrow in view ofthe upcoming assembly elections in five states.
Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh and chief ministers ofBJP-ruled states will also be attending the meeting, party''scentral observer Chandan Mitra said here today.
"The meeting will take stock of the situation in thefive states going to the assembly polls, party''s preparednessand prospects of alliance with other parties," he said.
Stating that all election-related matters will come upfor discussion at the meeting, Mitra said, "We are going toconcentrate on some winnable seats in West Bengal where wehave some strength."
Mitra said that BJP would explore possibilities ofhaving electoral tie-ups with smaller parties in North Bengal.
"I will not name any party as no discussion has yet beeninitiated," he added.
"We are open to discussion (electoral tie-up) with minorparties in different parts of North Bengal, which are opposedto CPI(M)''s terror tactics and Trinamool Congress'' policy ofdestruction", the BJP leader said.
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherryare going to polls in May. .
