Gangtok, Feb 14 (PTI) The Sikkim Pradesh CongressCommittee (SPCC) today alleged that the state government hasfailed to control the shortage of food supplies and essentialcommodities in the state due to the GJM''s indefinite bandh.
"There is a shortage of vegetables, eggs, chicken andother essential commodities which has led to the skyrocketingof prices due to the state government''s failure," a SPCC pressrelease said.
The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) had yesterday said thatthe National Highway 31A, the lifeline for Sikkim, whichpasses through Darjeeling Hills district, has been exemptedfor the Sikkim traffic from the indefinite shutdown inDarjeeling.
A convoy of 94 vehicles had left Rangpo for Siliguriyesterday.
The release also criticised the SDF government�s decisionto file a petition in the Supreme Court to keep NH31A openinstead of holding dialogue with the GJM leaders.
