Rahat Fateh Ali Khan detained over undeclared foreign currency
New Delhi, Feb 13 (PTI) Noted Pakistani singer RahatFateh Ali Khan was detained at the IGI airport here thisevening by revenue intelligence sleuths for allegedly carryinga huge amount of undeclared foreign currency.
Khan, who is a hit Bollywood playback singer, arrivedhere on a flight from Karachi and was intercepted by personnelfrom Directorate of Revenue Intelligence acting on some priorinformation, official sources said.
They said the singer was carrying a huge amount offoreign currency which he did not declare to the immigrationauthorities. Two other persons accompanying him have also beendetained, the sources said.
Khan is being questioned and the amount of the money isbeing ascertained, they said.
The 37-year-old, nephew of Pakistani singing legend UstadNusrat Fateh Ali Khan, was earlier too involved in acontroversy when organisers of a concert in Gurgaon filed apolice complaint against him in July last year for his failureto turn up for a show.
Khan has several hit numbers to his credit and had wonthe Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer this year for''Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji'' from the movie ''Ishqiya''.
