Itanagar, Feb 14 (PTI) Planning Commission member B KChaturvedi has called for speedy and timely execution ofvarious infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh speciallyin the border areas.
Chaturvedi alongwith Planning Commission Advisor S NBrahma Chowdury last evening reviewed the progress of variousprojects in Arunachal Pradesh under the Prime Minister''spackage and Centrally sponsored projects and called for speedyimplementation of the projects, official sources said today.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu requestedthe visiting Planning Commission team for sanctioning eightmajor projects to address the state''s infrastructuralbottleneck, the sources said.
The proposals include 132 KV Trans-Arunachal grid,drinking water facility in border blocks, porter tracks andfoot suspension bridges and log bridges in border areasconnecting 22 unconnected administrative centres along theinternational border and expediting the construction of theGreenfield airport, sources informed.
Chaturvedi and Brahma Chowdhury along with Khanduyesterday inspected the ongoing work on the Rs 77.25 croreItanagar drinking water supply project (Phase II), Rs 130crore secretariat building, Rs 60 crore assembly building andRs 75 crore Speaker''s residence and MLAs'' apartments, theysaid.
The team will visit Tuting and Singa along theIndo-Sino border in Upper Siang district and Pasighat inEast Siang disrict tomorrow to assess the progress ofvarious Central projects before concluding their three-dayvisit, sources added.
