Nashik, Feb 14 (PTI) Onion auctions at Lasalgaon market,one of the biggest in this district, resumed today after aweek amid tight police security, sources at the localAgriculture Produce Market Committee said.
Auctions could not be held here all through last weekwith farmers agitating for remunerative prices for onion andlifting of ban on its export.
Auctions were conducted this morning at between Rs 417 toRs 1,114 per quintal depending upon the quality and size.Auctions in other APMCs in the district, however,continued to be held during the week.
Meanwhile, at Pimpalgaon-Baswant, onions were auctionedthis morning at between Rs 565 and Rs 1,100 per quintal,according to APMC sources there.
Although prices have looked up marginally, farmers in thedistrict are not happy and have been demanding support priceof at least Rs 1,500 per quintal.
