Motorcycle thieves arrested

New Delhi, Feb 13 (PTI) A tailor and a motorcyclemechanic were arrested allegedly with 36 motorcycles they hadstolen from various states in north India, police said today.

Rizwan (21) and Iqram (23) were arrested recently fromeast Delhi, I B Rani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East),said.

Rizwan, the tailor, hails from Muzaffarnagar in UP whileIqram, the mechanic, belongs to Hardwar in Uttarakhand.

"They operated in Delhi, UP, Uttarakhand and Haryana. Attheir instance, 36 stolen motorcycles were recovered. We alsoseized fake vehicle documents from them," Rani said.

The first to be arrested was Rizwan on January 31 fromGandhi Nagar area during a vehicle checking. Duringinterrogation, he told police that he had stolen manymotorcycles from different areas in east Delhi.

On the same day, two motorcycles were recovered at hisinstance, which were found stolen from Jagatpuri.

His interrogation led to Iqram who was allegedly helpinghim in selling the motorcycles.
