Karnataka''s Rekha Devi wins gold in Taekwondo

Ranchi, Feb 14 (PTI) Karnataka''s P Rekha Devi outclassedShristi Singh of Uttar Pradesh to win the under-62kg gold inthe women''s Taekwondo event of the 34th National Games heretoday.

Though Singh fought spiritedly, she had to settle for asilver medal as Devi''s face kicks fetched her more points andSingh relied more on chest kicks.

Losing semi-finalist, Monika Raikwar (MP) and OWangoleima Chanu (Kerala) won the bronze medals in the event.

In the men''s under-87kg Taekwondo final, SSCB''s IbrahimKhan thrashed Manipal Singh (MP) to clinch the first goldmedal for his team.

Jharkhand''s Fani Bhusan Prasad and Punjab''s Dinesh KumarBhati won the bronze medals in the event.

Seven more gold medals for both men and women will bedecided today.
