Guwahati, Feb 13 (PTI) Jnanpith award winning Assameseliteratteur Indira Raisom Goswami, who has also played therole of a mediator between the Centre and the banned ULFA, hasbeen admitted to a hospital here in a critical condition.
68-year-old Goswami was brought to the GuwahatiMedical College Hospital late last night after she complainedof respiratory problems and was immediately put onventilation, senior doctor of medicine department DebabrataGoswami said.
"Her condition has shown slight improvement todaysince she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit but she isstill not out of danger," he said.
Goswami was ill for the last three days and hercondition deteriorated last night after dinner.
Hospital superintendent Ramen Talukdar said a team offive doctors headed by Debabrata Goswami were monitoring hercondition round the clock.
Several prominent personalities of the state havewished the eminent literatteur speedy recovery.
Goswami, who has authored several novels and shortstory collections, had also taken the initiative for apolitical dialogue between the Centre and ULFA to resolve theinsurgency issue which has rocked the state for nearly threedecades.
