Eight shot dead in Mexico City suburb

MEXICO CITY: Eight young people were executed on Sunday by gunmen in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico City, newspaper La Jornada reported.

According to witnesses, the gunmen opened fire from three vans and attacked the youth. The bodies of seven people, six men and one woman between 16 and 25, were found dead on the sidewalk.

Later, police officers found another body of a woman who had several shots. The victim was naked on the street.

The killers have not been identified. Police said the incident could be part of a settling of accounts between rival gangs fighting for control of the city's drug market.
