EC observers visit E Midnapore villages
Tamluk (WB), Feb 13 (PTI) Election Commissionobservers visited several parts of East Midnapore district forthe second day today as several CPI(M) supporters allegedbeing attacked by Trinamool Congress activists.P R Singh and Jiten Kumar, Deputy Inspector Generalsof police of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa respectively, wentaround Bhagawanpur, Patashpur and Bhupatinagar areas andinteracted with villagers.
The two observers were accosted by CPI(M) supporterswho alleged of being driven out of their villages after thepanchayat elections with Trinamool Congress wresting power.
Former CPI(M) MP Lakshman Seth alleged before therobservers yesterday that 5,000 party workers had been renderedhomeless after the Lok Sabha polls.
The observers visited Nandigram and adjoining areasyesterday with local leaders of Trinamool Congress and CPI(M)trading charges of having unleashed a reign of terror in thevillages Kalicharanpur, Sonachura, Bhangabera and Kamarda.
