Nokia, the world's largest handset maker, is one of the admiring brand at 2011 MWC. Various technology blogs and analysts have predicted launch of more than three Nokia mobiles in the show. But, just two days before the kick start of MWC, Nokia has announced the the alliance with computer giant Microsoft.
Nokia will use Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 OS as its primary platform for smartphones. Within hours of the historic announcement, media leaked the conceptual images of Nokia WP7 smartphones. So, possibility we can expect the launch of a Nokia WP7 at 2011 MWC.
But, the big question is the future of Nokia N9-00, which was rumored as the first Nokia MeeGo smartphone. The MeeGo platform was formed by the alliance between Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo in 2010. Nokia N9-00 with a slide-out QWERTY keypad has been cancelled and now, Nokia plans to launch full touchscreen mobile Nokia MeeGo N9-01.
Nokia N9-01 MeeGo will have a 480 x 854 resolution display and will be powered with 1.6GHz processor. Some reports added that this new smartphone will boast NFC chip that helps for money transaction through mobiles. Other features include 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 512 MB RAM.
These specifications are just rumors and Nokia has not yet announced launch of Nokia N9-01 yet. But, while announcing the partnership with Microsoft, Nokia revealed that the Finnish maker will ship a new MeeGo smartphone this year. So, definitely we can expect a MeeGo smartphone at 2011 MWC.
