Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad register easy wins

Perinthalmanna (Kerala), Feb 12 (PTI) Opener M Vijay''sbrilliant 92 of 113 balls and Off-spinner Murthy Prabhu''s fivefor 59 helped Tamil Nadu defeat Karnataka by six wicketsin the P Subaiah Pillai trophy cricket match at Perinthalmannastadium here today.

Put into bat, Karnataka, aided by a breezy 86 by RobinUthappa in just 54 balls with nine hits to the fence and fivesixes, scored 239 runs before being all out. Tamil Nadu''soff-spinner M Prabhu did the bulk of the damage.

In reply, Tamil Nadu notched up the required runs rathercomfortably, scoring 241/4 in 47.5 overs.

In another match played at Fort Maidan Palakkad,Hyderabad defeated Kerala by seven wickets. Akshath Reddystole the limelight for Hyderabad by scoring 86 runs off 104balls with the help of seven boundaries and a six.

Batting first, Kerala scored 222 in 50 overs andHyderabad made 223/3 in 46.5 overs, losing only three wickets.
