�Nanded pattern� of examinations to be implemented in state

Latur, Feb 12(PTI) The chairperson of the MaharashtraState Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, UjjwalaPatil, today said that the system enforced in Nanded called�Nanded pattern� would now be implemented in the whole stateto curb the menace of copying in exams.

The examinations of standard XII are scheduled to be heldbetween February 22 and March 12 when the system would beenforced.

Talking to PTI during her visit to the district she said"We are going to implement the �Nanded pattern� in the wholestate during the examinations. Unless and until the mentalityof the teachers and the students does not change, it isnecessary to conduct examinations in tight vigilance�, shesaid.

When asked about closing down or shifting of thesensitive centres, she said it is not possible for the boardto shift or close such centres because it is not possible toadjust thousands of examinees to other centres. The teacherswho would encourage copying in the examinations would bestrictly dealt with, she said.

In Nanded the district administration including thepolice, the revenue and the education department jointlyestablished several squads to curb the copy cats last yearthat came to be known as Nanded pattern.

It had led to the sharp fall in percentage of passingto only 25.27.
