Jaipur, Feb 12 (PTI) The Rajasthan government hasasked its senior official to submit within ten days a reporton alleged sexual harassment of a girl in a police stationlast month following which she had attempted to commitsuicide.
The state government has suggested Principal SecretarySocial Justice Aditi Mehta to review the circumstances underwhich the victim attempted suicide, an official said.
"Did police have enough reasons to call the girl atthe police station for questioning and whether properprocedure was followed in calling her," he said.
The victim was called at Pratap Nagar police stationon January 23 for questioning after one of her friends wentmissing.
At the police station, the SHO and Head Constable hadallegedly tried to harass the girl sexually following whichshe jumped before a moving train next day but survived withcritical injuries in head, spinal cord and leg.
Taking stern action, chief minister Ashok Gehlotordered suspension of SHO Ramnivas Vishnoi and Head ConstableLal Chand and handed over the case to CB-CID.
The investigating agency has arrested three policemenincluding the suspended SHO and head constable.
