Varsity to set up community college
Kottayam, Feb 11 (PTI): Mahatma Gandhi University will setup a community college based on a finishing school concept tohelp students from weaker sections who have not been able tocomplete their professional courses,a top official said today
A sum of Rs 50 lakh earmarked in MKU''s 2011-12 budget forthe college, to be set up on 20 acres at Udumbanchola inIdukki district, MGU vice-chancellor Dr Rajan Gurukkal said onthe sidelines of the budget session of the University here.
There are also plans to set up an academic andadministrative staff training college at a cost of Rs onecrore, he said.
An acccident insurance policy for students associated withlaboratory work, Rs 10 crore bio-medical research centre atPuthupally, an institute of intensive research in basicsciences are on the anvil.
