Jerez, Feb 12 (PTI) Adrian Sutil continued with hispre-season testing of the new VJM04 and put more than 300kmwith a best time of 1:21.780, the sixth quickest on the secondday here at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in southernSpain.
With a good foundation set-up established yesterday,Sutil evaluated the different tyre compounds available beforemoving onto more performance work.
The car ran reliably throughout the day, allowing theteam to push on with its programme for the week.
"Today was really the start of testing for us asyesterday was principally a shakedown to make sure the systemsall worked correctly. It went well, with a lot of lapscompleted. The car has a good balance and I think for thefirst real day of running we did a reasonable lap time," saidSutil.
He, however, added that there was a reoccurrence ofyesterday''s problems with the floor and it could only becorrected by sending it back to the factory.
"We had a reoccurrence of yesterday''s problems with thefloor and we know what the issue is, but to get a permanentfix we''ll have to go back to the factory. I''m already lookingforward to seeing how it goes in Barcelona with the KERS andthe moveable rear wing, which should both give some extraperformance."
Sutil will now hand over to Paul di Resta for hisfirst-ever laps in the VJM04 tomorrow.
"Paul will get his first opportunity to drive the cartomorrow and will pickup the programme where we left off thisafternoon," said Dominic Harlow, circuit engineering director.
