Six projects worth Rs 8,996 crore cleared
Chennai, Feb 12 (PTI): The Tamil Nadu Government toaycleared about six projects valued at Rs 8,996 crore, includinga gas terminal to be jointly set up by Indian Oil Corporationand Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).
The JV would be set up at an investment of Rs 4,320 crore.
Other projects include the Rs 2,262 crore SIPCOT (StateIndustries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu) industrialParks in Tirunelveli and Dindigul districts and SamsungIndia''s Rs 350 crore capacity upgradation plans at theirSriperumbudur plant, an official press release said.
Another one is Madras Cements'' expansion of factories atAriyalur and setting up of a new cement grinding machine unitin Kancheepuram district at a cost of Rs 1,042 crore.
All projects were approved at a cabinet meeting chairedby Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, it said.
Through these projects about 6,000 people in the statewould gain direct employment and another 11,000 indirectly, itsaid.
