JKCA seeks land for int''l cricket stadium in state

Srinagar, Feb 12 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir CricketAssociation President Farooq Abdullah today said the body hasrequested Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for the allocation ofland for the construction of an international stadium in thevalley.

Abdullah, who is also the Union Minister for RenewableEnergy, said the JKCA has requested the allocation of land forthe construction of an international cricket stadium in thevalley on the similar pattern being constructed in the wintercapital Jammu.

He said Chief Minister has allocated 512 kanals for theconstruction of an international cricket stadium in Jammu,which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 75 crore.

Abdullah, who today visited Sher-e-Kashmir CricketStadium in Srinagar to review the ongoing works, also chaireda meeting of the Cricket Association.

He stressed on fast-paceed completion of work on theStadium''s academy so that valley''s aspiring cricketers canavail its benefit.
