Ranchi, Feb 11 (PTI) Indian Olympic Association iscontemplating to include more former sportspersons in theadministration of various national federations, its presidentSuresh Kalmadi said today.
"We are planning how to bring in retired sportspersonsand work with them in tandem in the administration of sports,"Kalmadi said at a press conference ahead of the National Gameswhich starts here tomorrow.
"I am also happy that young Ajay Maken became the SportsMinister in the Manmohan Singh cabinet," Kalmadi, who isfacing investigations into the CWG scam, said withoutelaborating much.
Lauding the multi-complex Khelgaon, Kalmadi said theNational Games beginning tomorrow in Jharkhand has become allthe more important as London Olympic Games is just over a yearaway.
"This National Games have a special importance as playerswill be selected for various sporting events for the OlympicGames in 2012. They will be sent for coaching camps," headded.
Expressing happiness over all the union territoriesparticipating for the first time in the Games history, he said"The National Games have been delayed, but it (delay) isworthwhile, because the sporting infrastructure is ofinternational standard." PTI PVR SUS PDS
