IOA backs Kalmadi: Trilochan

Ranchi, Feb 12 (PTI) Indian Olympic Association VicePresident Trilochan Singh today defended IOA chief SureshKalmadi and insisted that the under-fire administrator willremain in his post despite allegations of corruption.

"He (Kalmadi) is our President till 2012. And the IOAfully backs him," Singh said.

Singh criticised the Clean Sports India Foundation fordemanding Kalmadi''s resignation due to the corruptionallegations surrounding the Commonwealth Games OrganisingCommittee, of which he was the chairman.

"What is CSIs contribution to the sports? Why don''t theydo some good work elsewhere," Singh said when asked aboutCSI''s demand for IOA President Suresh Kalmadi''s resignationfollowing CWG scam.

CSI is a newly-floated forum by former internationalslike hockey Olympian Pargat Singh and former athletics starsAshwini Nachappa and Vandana Rao.

Kalmadi had yesterday said the IOA had plans of includingformer sports persons in sports organisations.

The Annual General Body meeting of the IOA was heldmidway in Ranchi today, where the 34th National Games openslater in the evening.
