Gurgaon, Feb 11 (PTI) Indian Arrows maintained theirunbeaten streak at home as they played out a goal-less drawagainst Chirag United in a Round XIV I-League match heretoday.
The young side, which changed its name from AIFF XI atthe beginning of this month, had the edge over theirexperienced opponents with more scoring chances but failed toconvert them that came their way at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
Chirag had won 2-1 in their earlier meeting in thetournament in Kolkata but today they struggled as they failedto make inroads at the Indian Arrow citadel.
With today''s draw, Chirag remained at seventh positionwith 19 points from 14 matches -- the same as Mohun Bagan --but below them on goal difference. Mohun Bagan also have onemore game at hand.
Indian Arrows, on the other hand, are now on 10th with 14points from 14 matches. They have one more point from JCT andsame as that of HAL but below them on goal difference.
JCT and HAL have one more match at hand and the standingsmay change after other Round XIV matches tomorrow and onSunday.
Indian arrows have not lost in their seven home matches,including today''s, while they have registered only one win outof seven away matches -- against Viva Kerala -- in the RoundXIII. Today''s draw was fifth such result at home.
The Arrows almost scored their opener in the 13th minute,but Jibon Singh failed to give the desired direction to hisshot.
It was Jeje Lalpekhlua who did all the hard work in thebox and took a shot which was cut off by visiting sidegoalkeeper Somnath Khara, but the ball landed in front ofunmarked Jibon who failed to find the target.
Chirag found themselves back into the match later and inthe last 15 minutes of the first session, they could haveturned the tide in their favour. But a Joshimar Da Silva shotwas just off target.
The second half too saw the young guns of the IndianArrows dominating the proceedings. Jeje Lalpekhlua, who waslater adjudged Man-of-the-Match was at his best but the Mizostriker was unlucky not to find his name in the scoresheet.
Jewel Raja came up with two close strikes, but they werenot enough to trouble Chirag custodian and both the teams gotone point each.
