CID releases photos of Netai carnage accused

Kolkata Feb 12: West Bengal CID, probing the Netai carnage that left nine people dead, Saturday released photos of the accused, which included five CPI(M) local leaders.

The CID has released photographs of the six accused, currently absconding, and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to the person who would provide information about their whereabouts, officials said.

On Jan 7, suspected CPI(M) cadres indiscriminately fired from a house on an agitated crowd in West Midnapore's Netai village. Nine people, including four women, were killed and 29 others injured, in the incident.

The accused are - CPI(M) Lalgarh local committee secretary Joydeb Giri, owner of the house Rathin Dandapat, CPI(M) local leaders Abani Singh, Tapan Dey, Ashwini Chetak and Fullora Mondal, the officials said.

Anyone possessing information on the whereabouts of the accused can contact the CID at 033-24501100/6174 and 0322-22555. They can also give the information on mobile to investigating officer Manik Karfa (9874184351) and DSP Ranjit Chakraborty (9831139704), they said.
