BMC school students to watch World Cup ties at Wankhede

Mumbai, Feb 11 (PTI) For the first time, 2,000 studentsfrom civic-run schools in the metropolis will get anopportunity to watch the World Cup matches at the WankhedeStadium here, for free.

On February 7, the Standing Committee Chairperson of theBrihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had written a letter toMumbai Cricket Association to reserve 2,000 seats for studentsof BMC-run schools.

"We received a letter from Lalchand Rajput, JointSecretary of MCA stating that 2,000 students will get anopportunity to see World Cup matches on two days - March13th and 18th - at Wankhede stadium," Standing CommitteeChairperson Rahul Shewale said.

On March 13, New Zealand face Canada and before taking onSri Lanka on March 18.

MCA had earlier announced that it would reserve 5,000seats for students in the city, Shewale said, adding, "Wethought of using this opportunity as students from poor strataof society cannot afford to buy tickets." PTI KKP KRK PDS
