Jammu, Feb 11 (PTI) J-K government has shunted out twoofficials and suspended four employees in connection with analleged ration scam in Kathua district of the state.
Government has removed Assistant Director of ConsumerAffairs and Public Distribution, Kathua, Kaka Ram and SeniorAssistant Romesh Lal with the Directorate of CA&PD, Jammu,pending an enquiry into the seizure of PDS foodgrains meantfor BPL families from a floor mill in Kathua this month,officials said.
"Following complaints of pilferage of ration meant forBelow Poverty Line (BPL) families of Billawar and Bani tehsilsof Kathua district, the Department of Consumer Affairs andPublic Distribution (CA&PD) has put Tehsil Supply Officersand Store Keepers of the two tehsils under suspension," theysaid.
This is to ensure a fair inquiry by a committeecomprising two Deputy Directors of the Department, they said.
The Committee has also been directed to look into therole of the Assistant Director, CA&PD, Kathua and theDepartmental Supervisor of FCI, Kathua in the matter.
The probe panel has been directed to furnish itsreport within one week.
Police on February 2 recovered 620 bags of wheat andseized three trucks carrying supplies of Food Corporation ofIndia (FCI) at a local flour mill.
