MNS helps Sholay''s editor M S Shinde
Mumbai, Feb 11 (PTI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena todayextended financial aid to M S Shinde, the editor of theall-time-hit Hindi film Sholay'', who now lives in Mumbai''sDharavi area and is unwell.
The party had earlier helped actor A K Hangal, who too,incidentally, was a part of the Sholay team.
Office-bearers of MNS-controlled union, MaharashtraNavnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena'', handed Shinde a chequeof Rs 51,000 at his home.
Shinde bagged the Filmfare award for best editing forthe film in 1975. Now 80 years old, he is ailing andfinancially badly off.
"It is sad that Shinde, who won the Filmfare award, ishaving financial problems and can''t pay for medicaltreatment," said Ameya Khopkar, president of the union.
General Secretary of the union, Shalini Thackeray,said it was regrettable that the producers, Sippys, were notconcerned about Shinde.
