Bhopal, Feb 11 (PTI) Lashing out at the Centre for itsalleged step-motherly treatment of Madhya Pradesh, state BJPpresident Prabhat Jha today said that the Congress had noright to "maltreat" the people of the state.
The BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh not due to themercy of the Congress. The party had no right to treat thestate in such a manner, Jha told reporters here.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh knows a lot abouteconomics but it appears that he has no knowledge of thecountry''s federal system.
The Congress is free to humiliate and insult the BJP orits government in the state but it should not maltreat theseven crore citizens of the state," he added.
Jha said state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan willundertake a fast from February 13 to protest the manner inwhich the Centre is neglecting genuine demands of MadhyaPradesh.
Chouhan would conduct the fast from Dusshera Maidan inthe BHEL area and will do all his official work from thatplace, he said.
The fast would not be indefinite but its duration has notbeen decided yet, he said adding that Chouhan would undertakethe fast alone.
