Dempo play sans Reberto against Churchill

Margao, Feb 11 (PTI) A high voltage contest is on thecard when defending champions Dempo take on Churchill Brothersin the Goan derby in the fourteenth round of the I-League, tobe played at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda tomorrow.

At the end of the first leg, Churchill Brothers areplaced third with 26 points from 13 matches, while Dempo arebehind them with 22 points.

Both the teams cannot afford to loose or draw tomorrow asit will further drift them away from leader East Bengal whohave remained unbeaten so far with 31 points.

Dempo, who are nine points behind table topper EastBengal, a win is important as it will raise their confidenceahead of their AFC match slated on February 19 and also helpthem to keep themselves in fray to defend their title.

Both the teams were locked 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Dempo have reasonably done well in the first leg withoutseveral of their key players who did duties for the Indianteam and couple of them having injuries.

Now that they are all back, it will strengthen themid-field and defense which has been the weakest link.

"Our defeats against Salgaocar and Air-India wasdisappointing as it has effected our progress to defend thetitle, but the win in our last two matches has raised ourconfidence and have put us back on the track.

The return of the India players has strengthened theteam.

Churchill have also strengthened their side with twoforeign recruits and its going to be tough match and our boyswill have to play to their potential to win tomorrow.

But the main set back is the absence of player makerRoberto Silva who will have to sit out due to double booking.

His absence will be felt as he not only control themid-field but also scored in crucial matches.

We have to take things in our stride and match forward,+stated Armando Colaco, Dempo''s coach. .
