CRPF jawan, killer of kabaddi player, dies
Patna, Feb 11 (PTI) Jaswan Singh, a Central ReservePolice Force (CRPF) jawan, who fired at himself after gunningdown a national-level woman kabaddi player, died of hisinjuries at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) here, PMCHSuperintendent O P Choudhary.
The critically wounded CRPF jawan succumbed to hisinjuries yesterday, Choudhary said.
Jaswan had fired at a woman kabaddi player Manisha fromhis AK-47 on February 9 after she refused to share her mobilenumber with him near Bahadurpur railway crossing in the statecapital.
The CRPF man later fired at himself in which he wascritically injured.
The family of Manisha, who hails from a village inHimachal Pradesh''s Shimla district, had yesterday taken herbody to the state for cremation.
Jaswan was posted at the CRPF camp at the Moinul HaqStadium here, where she had gone to attend practice sessionsfor the 34th National Games in Jharkhand beginning Feb 12.
Jaswan, a resident of Rajasthan, was a jawan of the the131st CRPF Battalion.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, shocked at the killing ofManisha, who was also a railway employee, had said the stategovernment would ask the CRPF headquarters to take immediatesteps to withdraw its camps from the stadium and colleges inBihar.
