Allahabad, Feb 11 (PTI) High drama was witnessed insidethe district court premises here today when two groups ofpolicemen came to blows while three constables were arrestedfor allegedly inciting their colleagues to insubordination.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Jamil granted bail toconstables Brijendra Yadav, Subodh Yadav and Balistar Rai whowere arrested last night when they were chatting with otherpolice personnel and egging them on to give up attendingduties and join an association they had formed to exposealleged corruption in higher ranks of the police department.
According to police sources, an FIR was lodged againstthe trio at Daraganj police station of the city under PoliceForces (incitement to offence) Act and Section 353 of theIndian Penal Code (using criminal force to deter publicservant from discharge of his duty).
The constables were taken to the court for securing theremand where a number of their supporters stood in the way,alleging that the trio have been arrested on false charges anddemanding that they be released forthwith.
A scuffle erupted but things returned to normal when thearrested constables informed their supporters that theirlawyer has already moved a bail application and that they willbe released as soon as they were produced before the court.
