Army uses bio-metric technology for recruitments in JK

Jammu, Feb 11 (PTI) Army has started using bio-metricfinger printing technology for recruitments in Jammu andKashmir to tighten the noose on touts and impersonatorsoperating during job rallies.

"We have used bio-meteric finger print technology atrecruitment rallies for choosing the best lot for army and todo away with touts and impersonators, who might be alluringcandidates coming from remote belts for rallies", DeputyDirector General (DDG), Recruiting (Punjab-J&K), Brig VinodRaizada told reporters here today.

Apart from using the technology, the army''s vigilancenetwork and other wings are keeping an eye on touts andimpersonators, Brig Raizada said.

"We are taking finger prints and other samples fromcandidates appearing at the rallies. If one qualifies, he cango to other step of tests only when finger prints match. Thereis no possiblity of impersonating now," he said.

Over 25000 candidates from various districts haveturned up at the week-long recruitment rally at Sunjuwanmilitary station on the city''s outskirts.

Besides touts, army is also closely monitoringand scrutinising the documents of the candidates to preventimpersonation, he said.

Maximum number of candidates taking part in therecruitment rally at Sunjuwan are from Jammu district, BrigRaizada said, adding that the number of job aspirants fromKashmir valley has also shown an upward trend.

While 9000 candidates turned up at the Sunjuwan rallyfrom Jammu only, 2000 boys from the Valley also throngedrecruitment rallies held in Kashmir, he said.
