Ten injured in gun shots
Kendrapara (Orissa), Feb 10 (PTI) At least 10 people,including four women, were injured when a retired BorderSecurity Force jawan opened fire from a crude gun over a landdispute at Baratunga village of Orissa''s Kendrapara district,about 25 km from here, police said.
''''It was an act of sudden provocation by the retiredJawan, Madan Mohan Behera. The shooting also provoked a groupclash. No causality was reported, Narasingha Bhol, KendraparaSuperintendent of Police, said.
He said it was a double barrel gun that is often used toscare away straying animals like monkeys from crop fields.
The firing followed an exchange of words between twogroups over a land-related feud.
All the injured who were shifted to districtheadquarters hospital are stated to be out of danger.
Behera is absconding. Two persons, including one of themasterminds of the incident, have been taken into custody,Bhol told.
As a precautionary measure, armed police has beendeployed in the village.
