Chandigarh, Feb 10 (PTI) An amount of Rs 3.20 crore wasreleased for various projects in different districts of Punjabunder MPLAD Scheme (Members of Parliament Local AreaDevelopment Scheme) by Union Minister for Information andBroadcasting Ambika Soni.
The funds, released on the direction of Rajya SabhaMember from Punjab and Union Minister for Information andBroadcasting Ambika Soni, have been utilised in building ofcommunity halls, dharamshalas, Junjh ghars and panchayat gharsamong other projects, an official release said here today.
Funds were released to Hoshiarpur, Ropar, Kharar, Mohali,Nawanshahar, Gurdaspur, Nanagal, Mukerian, Kapurthala,Ferozepur, Barnala, Mansa, Pathankot, Jalandhar districtsamong others.
Those who have requested for MPLADS funds last year fordevelopment work have included sitting and former MLAs,Sarpanchs and Principals of various schools, it added.
A number of projects have been also been sanctioned bySoni during her visits to the rural areas in the state, therelease said.
An amount of Rs 10 lakhs has been allocated for reliefand rehabilitation works in the cloudburst region of Leh inJammu and Kashmir last year, it said.
