Aizawl, Feb 10 (PTI) Mizoram-Tripura border Mamitdistrict administration officials were conductingre-verification of the 28 Bru families who returned on theirown during January from North Tripura relief camps and werenot enrolled in the Mizoram''s voters lists, official sourcessaid today.
The Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Mamit districtHmunsanga told PTI over phone that those who could not provethat they were bona fide residents of Mizoram would bedeported to Tripura.
"The SDO (Sadar) has been conducting re-verification andif at least one of the family members is enrolled in thevoters lists or has documents like job card under MGNREGS orration card, the family can be regarded as bona fide residentsof the state," he said.
Around 221 Bru families have returned to Mizoram on theirown during January last after the state government called offthe repatriation process due to obstruction byanti-repatriation elements amongst the refugees and 28families were detected as not enrolled in the electoral rollsin Mizoram.
Meanwhile, the third phase of the Bru repatriation couldnot be conducted due to non-availability of fund for therepatriation expenditure.
