German man accused of conceiving eight children with his stepdaughter

KOBLENZ, GERMANY: Prosecutors on Thursday announced that a German man was accused of conceiving eight children with his stepdaughter and abusing his sons for 23 years in western Germany, DPA news agency reported.

A 48-year-old man, identified only as Detlef S., is due in court next week in the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate. He is also accused of forcing the now 28-year-old victim into prostitution, abusing a biological daughter and a stepson as well.

The man was arrested in his residence in Fluterschen, a village in Rhineland-Palatinate. He was married with the mother of the 28-year-old and adopted the victim and her brother who were conceived in a previous marriage.

The couple also had two children of their own including one female aged 18. The man has been in custody since August 2010 after his stepdaughter found a suicide note written by the 18-year-old daughter and forwarded it to local authorities.

Police said that the man was unemployed and sexually abused his 18-year-old daughter and two of his stepchildren between 1987 and 2010. In addition, he allegedly forced the two girls into prostitution.

Between 1999 and 2009, the unemployed man fathered eight children with his stepdaughter. The children attended kindergarten and school in a neighboring community.

Police performed DNA tests on the children. One of them died a few weeks after his birth due to sudden infant death syndrome. The DNA tests proved that the 48-year-old man was in fact the biological father.

A spokesman for the court in Koblenz informed that the suspect is scheduled to appear before a judge next Tuesday. The mother of the children has been called as a witness.
