Chandigarh, Feb 10 (PTI) The mobile phone services ofstate-owned telecom operator BSNL were disrupted for an hourfollowing a technical snag here today.
"The problem arose in the mobile services due tosnapping of Optical Fibre Cable that also affected about adozen Base Tower Stations (BTS) at certain areas in Chandigarhincluding Sectors 17 and 34," a senior official of BSNL said.
The problem occured at about 1120 hrs and the servicesremained disrupted till 1225 hrs.Although subscribers complained of lack of networkcoverage for a little over an hour, the authorities maintainedthat the mobile services were restored within half an hour.
"I had to make an urgent STD call but when I tried to, ataround 1130 hrs, there was no network. Initially, I thoughtthere was some problem in my handset but when I enquired froma few BSNL users in sector 17 ... they also complained of lackof network coverage," complained a BSNL mobile services userin Chandigarah.
BSNL has over one lakh mobile subscribers in Chandigarh.
However, services of users served by the affected BTSs,located at different places in Chandigarh, were onlydisrupted.
