Threat to Xoom: Dell to launch 10-inch tablet

San Francisco, Feb 9: US based computer maker, Dell has announced its plan to launch a new 10-inch tablet PC aimed at the business executives. This new Dell Business Tablet will hit the market in the Q3 of 2011.

According to media reports, Dell Business tablet will run on an Intel processor and the Android version also would be available. It is not clear that whether the new tablet will be powered by Android tablet only version Honeycomb.

Dell has announced their new plan during the Dell Means Business event in San Francisco. During this event, the company unveiled 39 new products, including an updated version of the Latitude XT3 laptop.

Currently, Dell has Streak tablet in two versions, 5-inch and 7-inch. The 7-inch Streak was announced during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show. This tablet runs on Android Froyo and has a Dual- core 1Ghz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.

The detailed features and specifications of Dell Business Tablet are not yet available. The launch of 10-inch tablet will make the tablet market more competitive as it is waiting for the launch of Motorola Xoom, Apple iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

The Motorola Xoom will hit the market on Feb 24 through Best Buy. We can expect the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 at 2011 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Rumors have reached in its peak about the launch of iPad 2. Technology blogs reported that iPad 2 will hit the market by Apr 2011. Stay tuned for all these launches.
