Children bask in holidays for Census 2011 in city
Over 7,000 teachers will be part of the census exercise. The teachers of primary section will be on census duty from Feb 14 to Mar 5, so BMC-run primary schools will be closed till then, informed additional Municipal Commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar.
Stating about the Census programme, Mhaiskar informed, "People will be enumerated on all counts including marital status, occupation and literacy."
"We have asked all the 24 ward offices to gather information on homeless people. The officers have been asked to collect information including their name, age, mode of income, from where they arrived and family members among others," she added.

The officials with Census responsibilities promoted their acts online as they have also launched an official web page, titled India Census 2011, on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter asking people to participate in the population enumeration exercise.
"Stand up and be counted. Your Census, your future. Help us plan a brighter tomorrow," these are the few messages which have been displayed in the online media.
