Indore, Feb 9 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh BJP President, PrabhatJha today said the situation in the state, where some farmerscommitted suicide recently after crop failure, was in no waysimilar to the one prevailing in the Vidarbha region ofMaharashtra.
"Madhya Pradesh continues to be an island of peace whereonly a few farmers have committed suicide and real causes ofthose suicides must be found out," Jha told PTI.
He said that Centre had a discriminatory attitudetowards Madhya Pradesh on the issue of financial package forfarmers, and this forced the Chief Minister Shivraj SinghChouhan to announce that he would go on a hunger strike onFebruary 13.
Talking about by-elections in Kukshi and Sonkatchassembly by-elections in the state, Jha ruled out thepossibility of any sabotage'' by dissatisfied elements in thestate BJP.
Expressing confidence that the BJP would win both theseats, Prabhat said that people were fed up with variousscandals that had taken place under the Congress-led UPAgovernment at the Centre.
