By Pti

Johannesburg, 8 Feb (PTI) South Africa skipper GraemeSmith is not surprised that his former colleague HerschelleGibbs is on a donation spree, giving away all his cricketingmemorabilia to his fans.

Gibbs has even put his man-of-the-match trophy earned inthe record run chase of 438 against Australia back in 2006, upfor grab saying, "The only trophy that I wanted to win was aCricket World Cup. Now that I know that will never happen, Idon''t mind giving the rest away."

Smith said he was not at all surprised by the batsman''sgesture as the opener had always been the one to give away hiskeepsakes.

"I think it''s driven by a wish to share his stuff withpeople who will treasure it. The memories are in his head andheart, not behind a piece of glass," Smith told the daily ''TheStar''.

The 36-year-old used Twitter -- a social networkingwebsite -- to donate his belongings which includes Proteasjerseys, cricketing gear and even his medals.

Gibbs amicably parted ways with Cricket South Africa(CSA) last year after allegedly revealing the dark side of theSouth African cricket in his biography.
