Six sentenced to imprisonment in fund irregularity case
Hyderabad, Feb 8 (PTI) Six persons including twoemployees of National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) weresentenced to imprisonment by a special CBI court here in afund irregularity case.
After six years of trial, the special court convictedNRSA Project Director K J Hebbar, and awarded him two yearsrigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 7,000. Deputy ProjectDirector, P Madhusudan Rao, was sentenced to three yearsrigorous imprisonment and imposed with a fine of Rs 20,000,CBI officials said today.
Four others including two women--P Laxmi, Bharati, BaddamJaipal Reddy and Prakash Rashinkar--were sent to prison fortwo years
According to prosecution, Hebbar and Madhusudan Rao,both employees of NRSA here colluded with four private personswho used to provide manpower to the institution. The duoentered into criminal conspiracy with them in 1995.
Later, the four claimed bills without providing manpowerand two officials passed the bills submitted by them andshared NSRA funds of about Rs two lakhs illegally withoutdeployment of sufficient manpower, CBI officials said.
