Kolkata, Feb 8 (PTI) A day after speculations about hisretirement from all forms of cricket did the rounds, formerIndia captain Sourav Ganguly today said it was a classic caseof misunderstanding and he was "shocked and disappointed" tosee how his comments were misinterpreted by the media.

Reiterating that he has not call it quits from domesticcricket, Ganguly said the media blew his remarks out ofproportion and in no point of time during the interview he hasmentioned about his complete retirement from the game.

"It was completely misunderstood. It was in a sequence ofquestions I had said that I would not play domestic cricket ifdon''t play in IPL. It was said in a different perspectivecompletely," a peeved Ganguly told PTI at his residence.

"I had never said in the interview that I was retiringfrom all forms of cricket and there was no question ofbacktracking. I don''t understand how they (media) came to sucha conclusion," he said.

"There was no controversy at all. After learning thatsomething was misunderstood during the interview, I had sent arejoinder and said if I don''t get to play IPL, I will not beparticipating in any forms of domestic cricket. But if I doget an opportunity to play IPL, I will play domestic cricketto stay fit," added the left-hander, who was snubbed by allthe 10 IPL franchises for the fourth edition on the event.

Speculations about Ganguly''s retirement from all forms ofthe game triggered yesterday after his interview to atelevision channel was misinterpreted by the media.

"It''s very disappointing and shocking to know that theway the media interpreted it and blew it out of proportion. Itshould not have happened like this," Ganguly said.

"It was a classic example of I say something in somecontext which was understood completely in a different way insome other context," he said.

Asked how he sees his cricketing career panning out afterall the franchises chose to ignore him for IPL IV, Gangulysaid, "You have to wait and see.

"I will take a call if an opportunity comes in my way infuture. I have already retired from International cricket(after Australia series) in 2008. And it''s too far to talkabout the next IPL." PTI TAP SSC
