Erode, Feb 7 (PTI): The strike called by Milk producerswelfare association in Tamil Nadu from today,demandingenhanced procurement price evoked good response in thedistrict with 70 per cent of them stopping supply to MilkCooperatives.
The Association had demanded that the Government enhanceprocurement price by Rs five per litre for cow�s milk and Rs 8per litre of buffalo milk.
Officials said only 45,000 litres of milk was suppliedto societies against the normal 1.50 lakh litres.
More than 15,000 farmers and members of 459 Milk ProducersCooperative Societies supply milk to milk cooperatives.
The Association claimed the strike was a success and thatthey would intensify the stir and ensure that all milkproducers stop supply to the societies from tomorrow.
