FIR against engineers for financial irregularities

Medininagar (Jharkhand), Feb 7 (PTI) An FIR has beenlodged against an executive engineer, two junior engineers anda contractor on charges of financial irregularities to thetune of several lakhs of rupees in Palamu district.

Palamu Deputy Commissioner Puja Singhal Purwar toldnewsmen today that the FIR was lodged on the directive of theBuilding and House committee of Jharkhand Assembly, which wason a two-day tour of the district to inspect the progress ofthe construction work in the department.

The executive engineer of Building division, RamanandRai was detained for interrogation, she said adding the FIRwas lodged after the officer-in-charge of Medininagar Townpolice station and the Civil Surgeon of the district apprisedthe committee that no construction work had taken place intheir premises.

She said the irregularities was detected in theconstruction and repairing of building under 19 schemes whilea probe order has been given to probe similar charges inanother 18 schemes.

The Deputy Commissioner said a four-member committeecomprising of executive engineers of PWD, Special Division andNREP would probe the cases under the supervision of theSuperintending Engineer.

The committee have been directed to submit its reportwithin a fortnight, Purwar said.

Meanwhile, the district administration has seized allthe financial power bestowed with the Executive Engineer, sheadded.
