Chennai, Feb 7 (PTI) DMK today rubbished Janata Partychief Subramanian Swamy''s allegation that Tamil Nadu ChiefMinister M Karunanidhi had allotted land to a "favoured few"under discretionary quota in violation of rules, saying allnorms have been followed.
"There is no violation. We have followed all the norms,"DMK spokesman TKS Elangovan said.
His comments came against the backdrop of Swamy seekingthe Governor''s sanction for prosecution of Karunanidhi.
Elangovan said plots have been allotted on the basis ofdeclaration by individuals. "The government is not going toverify the declaration submitted by every applicant - whetherhe or she owns a plot or not. It is not the government''s job,"he said.
The DMK leader accused the opposition parties of actingout of desperation as they could not come to power.
"They (opposition parties) take to all sorts of gimmicksto see that people change their minds and do not support theDMK (during the coming Assembly elections)," he said.
"It don''t think there is any basis. It only shows theirdesperation," he added.
Swamy sought Governor Surjit Singh Barnala''s sanction aday after the DMK chief issued him a legal notice for linkinghis name to the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
He said Karunanidhi has violated every rule and allottedland to a favoured few and claimed that he had enough evidenceto prove the names of the beneficiaries.
